The Friends of The Blackden Trust are pleased to present
the first event of the 2024 Season
Walking the Weirdstone – Archaeology and the works of Alan Garner
Dr. James Wright will explore the fascinating local archeological sites that underpin the books of author Alan Garner.
The event will take place on 6th April 2024 at 3pm in Goostrey Village Hall.

Who are we?
The Friends of The Blackden Trust is an independent organisation, made up of enthusiastic supporters of the Trust, which raises funds through membership and events and also organises trips and social events for its members.
The Friends sustain the Trust in many ways: raising funds, volunteering and acting as ambassadors for the Trust at local events. The Friends make a significant contribution to the care, upkeep and development of this historic site.
Projects that have been funded by the Friends include:
- An Astroturf floor for the marquee (allowing increased numbers of children to attend education workshops)
- Flexible seating for visitors attending tours or lectures
- Repairs to the structure of The Old Medicine House
- Additional resources for Education visits
- Improvements to The Old Medicine House Kitchen
- A laptop for the Trust’s administrator
- A significant contribution towards the development of this website
