Petals and Claws
The Old Medicine House was one of the venues for the Petals and Claws exhibition.
Petals and Claws was a multi-media exhibition to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of Alan Garner’s classic novel, The Owl Service. The novel was inspired by the Mabinogion, the great collection of early Welsh myths. The exhibition revealed the effects of both the novel and the myth on the imaginations of the artists involved: in the sculpture of Liz Ellis; the painting of Jenny Ryrie; the photography of David Heke; a poem by Anna Wigley; and a dance created by Jacqueline McCormick.
