Saturday 10th September 10.30am – 3.30pm at the Old Medicine House, Blackden

A practical workshop on the history and uses of scented herbs

will take place in the Tudor Old Medicine House. Visitors will be guided as they gather herbs from the garden and strew them in the house that was first built during the Tudor period. The properties of the herbs and how they were used to counteract pests and diseases will be discussed.

Each visitor will be guided through the process of making a formal Elizabethan Tussie-Mussie posy of scented herbs to take home.

The workshop is designed to be an enjoyable and educational experience showing how herbs were valuable plants in the lives of our ancestors.
